In my book Revolver by Marcus Sedgewick, There are not as
many main characters as you would expect. But that doesn’t make them any less
important. One main character is Einar Andersson, The father of Sig and Anna
and husband to Maria and then Nadya. Einar’s two children are also important
main characters named Sigfried and Maria. In this book Sigfrid or also known as
Sig is the protagonist while the antagonist is another main character named
Gunther Wolff. Einar’s wife is also a main character. She is a god loving woman
named Maria. In Revolver there are three different settings, with two being far
more important than the other. This book is placed in Nome and Giron, Two
cities that lay far up north. This book includes flashback chapters to try to
give you clues as to what’s happening now and why it’s happening. The
flashbacks, which usually happen every other chapter go back and forth ten
years at a time. The final setting is 57
years into the future with Sig as an old man. It is placed in the Warwick Hotel
in New York City.
The
main conflict in the novel is between Sig and Wolff about a deal Wolff struck
ten years ago about sharing gold with his Einar, Sigs father. Einer evades Wolff
for ten years but finally he catches him, and then it’s no longer Einars
problem, now it is Sigs. Revolver reminds me highly of The Outcasts because of
its wintery setting and how it shows the conflict between two people and the one
who is expected to win doesn’t always. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/the-outcasts-brotherband-chronicles-book-1
